The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will establish three technical hubs in the province of Romblon to address technical and configuration issues during the upcoming national and local elections.
During the Provincial Joint Security Control Center Command Conference and Stakeholders’ Meeting organized by Comelec Romblon, Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Ryan Santos announced that the hubs will be managed by Miru Systems Joint Venture, the poll body’s automation service provider.
Santos explained that the decision to set up three technical hubs instead of one, as in other provinces, was due to Romblon’s unique geographical landscape.
“Given Romblon’s archipelagic nature, having multiple hubs will allow for quicker response and resolution of technical issues,” he said in Tagalog.
The hubs will be strategically located on the three major islands of the province: Tablas, Romblon, and Sibuyan.
According to Comelec Resolution No. 24-0861, the hubs will be operational from May 6, 2025, until the conclusion of the elections.
Comelec Chair George Erwin Garcia earlier emphasized that the inclusion of technical hubs in the contract with Miru Systems Joint Venture is a proactive measure to address potential issues with the automated counting machines (ACMs).
