Members of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)-Odiongan District Jail led by Acting District Jail Warden, Jail Senior Inspector Dante Montilla, in coordination with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Odionagn Fire Station conducted Operation Greyhound on Tuesday wherein zero contraband was confiscated.
In a press release, BJMP Mimaropa Information Officer Jail Officer 3 Joefrie Anglo told Romblon News Network the greyhound operation is an “essential operational activity of the BJMP” to maintain peace and order inside its jail facility. “And for the safety of our PDLs [persons deprived of liberty] and Personnel,” the official said.
“Oplan Greyhound aims to ensure that the district jail of Odiongan upholds the standards for the prevention of entry, use and movement of contraband within the jail premises to protect the public, jail staff and PDLs,” said Anglo.
He added the greyhound operation was conducted at the jail, following the directive of Jail Senior Superintendent Clarence Mayangao, regional director of the Jail Bureau, to all jail units to sustain its campaign against contrabands.
The inmates were instructed to stay out of their prison cells and group themselves at the holding area within the jail facility as the inspection of the jail cells was conducted.
BJMP Odiongan aims to prevent the entry of contrabands such as weapons and illegal drugs within the jail facility that will result in a safer environment suitable for the rehabilitation and development of the 114 PDLs under its custody.
The Information Officer also said that the BJMP have enacted stricter guidelines for families and other visitors of PDLs to ensure that contrabands are not being sneak in into the jail facilities. (PR)‘Greyhound’ in Odiongan District Jail; zero contraband found
