The police in the MIMAROPA region are ready for the influx of people visiting cemeteries this Undas season, according to the Police Regional Office (PRO) MIMAROPA.
PRO MIMAROPA Information Officer Zoe Compleza Seloterio said that various security measures have been put in place to maintain order, including the deployment of police personnel, the establishment of police assistance desks, and checkpoints at various memorial sites.
“In terms of preparation, the region is ready, especially for operations, as they have been thoroughly planned. Last year, the surge of visitors was generally peaceful. Our police have prepared measures to control the influx of people and prevent any disturbances. Many officers are already positioned at strategic points throughout the province to ensure a quick response when needed,” she said.
A total of 206 police assistance desks have been set up across the region—44 in Oriental Mindoro, 43 in Occidental Mindoro, 20 in Marinduque, 48 in Romblon, 40 in Palawan, and 11 in Puerto Princesa City.
Additionally, 262 checkpoints have been established to monitor incoming visitors and enforce the “no firearms” policy in cemeteries.
“One of the key measures is the placement of checkpoints on major roads leading to the cemeteries. We have also established police assistance desks at each cemetery and other crowded areas. Our officers will patrol around memorial sites, conducting continuous monitoring and inspections of items entering to prevent any potential disturbances during Undas. Various protocols, including the ‘no firearms’ policy, are being enforced,” Seloterio added.
In Oriental Mindoro, over 500 police personnel have been deployed to ensure security during the Undas observance.
“Our police are fully prepared to respond to any emergencies and provide first aid and assistance, especially near the cemeteries,” she said. (AS/PIA MIMAROPA-Oriental Mindoro)
