Officials, staff, faculty, and students from all campuses of Romblon State University (RSU) united in a solemn candle-lighting and prayer ceremony on December 2 to honor victims of human rights violations.
In a press release, RSU said that the initiative, led by RSU President Dr. Merian Catajay-Mani, was a university-wide synchronized event aimed at expressing solidarity with human rights victims. Dr. Mani spearheaded the ceremony at the Administration Building, where staff and officials joined in reciting prayers in unison.
Across campus grounds, students, faculty, and staff gathered outside their offices and buildings, forming a heart shape while offering their prayers. Many participants donned orange attire, symbolizing their support for the ongoing Human Rights Consciousness Week.
Dr. Mani conveyed her heartfelt gratitude to the RSU community for their unwavering support in advocating for human rights, including the fight against violence toward women and children. This collective act reflects RSU’s commitment to fostering awareness and action for the protection and promotion of human rights.
