Romblon State University (RSU) is celebrating a milestone this week—its 15th anniversary of achieving university status.
During Monday’s flag-raising ceremony, RSU President Dr. Merian Mani acknowledged the unwavering support of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and expressed gratitude to the university’s faculty, staff, students, alumni, and stakeholders for their collective efforts in driving RSU forward.
She emphasized that RSU stands “at the precipice of a new era,” poised to make its mark not only locally but on the global stage. As the university enters its 15th year, Dr. Mani reaffirmed its commitment to innovation, sustainability, inclusivity, and volunteerism as core principles guiding its progress.
In line with this vision, RSU is set to enhance its physical infrastructure and digital landscape, aiming to foster innovation and improve learning experiences.
Furthermore, the university will continue to prioritize the quality of instruction, aiming to cultivate future leaders and critical thinkers.
Dr. Mani also urged the university community to reaffirm their devotion to RSU and their roles, highlighting that loyalty and commitment will ensure a brighter future for the institution and the generations it serves.
The Republic Act No. 9721, signed into law by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on October 14, 2009, officially converted Romblon State College into Romblon State University (RSU).
This year’s celebration, themed “The Future is Now: Unleash the Power of Sustainable Innovation,” not only reflects on RSU’s past but also highlights the institution’s forward-looking vision.
As part of the 15th-anniversary celebrations, RSU has organized various events, including a general quiz bee, debate, festival dance competition, amazing race, and the much-anticipated Mr. & Ms. SDG 2024 pageant (with reports from Angela Mae Castillo)
