Three Beneficiaries of the Education and Livelihood Assistance Program – Livelihood Component received their livelihood start-up capital worth Php 15,000.00 for their prospective business which OWWA Welfare Officer, Ms. Crezeila Marquez awarded last February 15, 2019 at Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro. The Education and Livelihood Assistance Program supports the bereaved families left behind by late OFWs who met unfortunate incidents abroad, via their proposed livelihood project.
With the untimely loss of her dearest husband, Ms. Joan Rivera, program beneficiary, thanked OWWA 4B for the assistance in their livelihood project which she aims to use to start a Sari-sari store and provide a suitable source of income for their whole family.
Ms. Amelia Dalisay, another beneficiary, also opened her variety store. Ms. Dalisay intends to use her earnings as a steady source of income to benefit the needs of her whole family. Ms. Dalisay wants to continue the work her husband started and provide to her family’s needs.
The third beneficiary Ms. Agapita Luzon intends to use her start-up capital to sell rice cakes, something she knows to bake ever since she was little. Ms. Luzon believes that her pitchi-pitchi family recipe will be a success to the people of Oriental Mindoro. Ms. Luzon wants to honor all of the hard work her dearly departed husband started to support their family by selling what used to be one of her husbands’ favorite foods.
OWWA Administrator, Mr. Hans J. Cacdac reiterated “We are very sad to see an OFW who comes home in a coffin. More than the financial benefits and livelihood assistance OWWA extends to the bereaved family, we are hopeful that they can feel our sincere condolences, and we hope that one way or the other, they are able to cope with the unfortunate incident,”. OWWA will remain steadfast in its goal of delivery of welfare and benefits and ensuring Capital build-up and fund viability to further provide services to OFWs and their families all over the world. /END (OWWA4B/J.E.P.C)
