Police in the MIMAROPA region are ready to ensure peaceful and orderly voting across the region in the May 12, 2025 midterm elections.
Brigadier General Roger Quesada, Regional Director of Police Regional Office-MIMAROPA (PRO-4B), said that more than 5,000 police personnel will be deployed to secure 1,569 voting centers across the region.
“Our security plan is in place, our forces are ready and we are fully committed to safeguard the sanctity of the electoral process,” Quesada said In a press briefing on Friday, April 25.
As of April, no election-related incident was recorded in the region, according to the police, a milestone credited to the activation of the Regional Election Monitoring and Action Center (REMAC) in January and the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders.
“This would not have been possible without the strong cooperation among the police, local government units and communities who continue to support our shared goal of peace and order,” Quesada emphasized.
The Philippine National Police is also conducting regular security assessments and intelligence operations, with checkpoints and patrols ramped up in identified election watchlist areas.
The police official has not publicly disclosed the number of “areas of concern,” but said that continuous monitoring is being done.
Quesada urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. He assured the voters of police presence not just on election day but throughout the entire election period, including during the canvassing and proclamation of winners.
“To our fellow citizens, you can trust that your MIMAROPA police are responsive, approachable and always ready to serve,” he said.
The 2025 midterm elections will see Filipinos vote for candidates running for national and local positions. Security forces across the country have been placed on heightened alert as the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) intensifies preparations. (ALG/AS/PIA MIMAROPA-Oriental Mindoro)
