The Palawan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) is expected to finalize the Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis (RDANA) between February 11 and 12 to assess the damage and needs after the flooding caused by the shear line in the southern towns of Palawan.
Board Member Ryan Maminta said during the recent regular session that RDANA is now conducted throughout the southern Palawan, under the direction of the PDRRM Council (PDRRMC).
The barangay and municipal officials in towns are now coordinating with the PDRRMO to speed up its completion.
“For us to be able to assess whether or not the recent events, the calamities, and disasters brought about by massive rain resulting in flooding, would necessitate the declaration of a state of calamity in the entire province of Palawan or in some portions of Palawan, the RDANA is needed” he said.
The Palawan Emergency Operations Center situation summary report at 8 P.M. on February 10 showed that about 1,281 families are now affected in Palawan with a total number of 4,616 individuals. The province has evacuated approximately 961 families, totaling 3,290 individuals, to various towns.
Meanwhile, 320 families remain outside the evacuation centers with a total number of 1,326 individuals.
Shear lines caused the heavy rains, which led to flooding in various towns, including Puerto Princesa. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecasts that rain will still be observed until February 11. (RG/PIA MIMAROPA-Palawan)
