The Department of Health (DOH) has recently provided new medical equipment to Romblon Provincial Hospital (RPH) to enhance healthcare services in the province.
Governor Jose Riano inspected the newly delivered equipment, which was acquired through the DOH’s Health Facility Enhancement Program (HFEP).
According to Riano, the funding used for the equipment came from unutilized allocations meant for other provincial hospitals, which he successfully requested from the DOH.
“This is a huge help because these new medical tools will greatly improve the services provided by our doctors and nurses at Romblon Provincial Hospital,” Riano said.
The newly acquired medical equipment includes patient monitors, IV infusion pumps, neonate bilirubin phototherapy equipment, infant incubators, ECG machines, and mechanical ventilators.
Riano also emphasized that the new equipment is part of the province’s ongoing preparations to upgrade RPH to a Level 2 hospital.
“This is part of our preparation to elevate our hospital to Level 2. While it is still classified as Level 1, it already caters to more patients than its designated bed capacity, making it essential to further improve our healthcare services,” he added.
Aside from this, the DOH has also allocated P77 million worth of medical equipment to be distributed across eight provincial government-run hospitals in Romblon, including those in island municipalities. The funding was sourced from the Medical Assistance for Indigent Patients (MAIP) Program. The newly acquired equipment is currently housed at the Provincial Convention Center in Barangay Rizal and is now ready for delivery to Romblon Provincial Hospital and other designated healthcare facilities.
