In 2024, the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) flagship program, Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS), marked a milestone in the MIMAROPA region by completing 316 community sub-projects.
These initiatives have positively impacted 159,043 households, including 35,346 Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries, 29,284 Indigenous families, and 279,535 women participants.
The program mobilized a total of Php 245 million in grants, supplemented by Php 82 million in local counterpart contributions, funding critical infrastructure like roads, bridges, water systems, health centers, and day care facilities. These projects significantly improved access to essential services and enhanced the quality of life for underserved communities.
Under its various initiatives—including the National Community-Driven Development Program–Additional Financing (NCDDP-AF), Kapangyarihan at Kaunlaran sa Barangay (KKB) for Cash-for-Work and Community-Driven Development, and the Philippine Multisectoral Nutrition Project (PMNP)—the program achieved all 14 of its Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the year.
The success was credited to the collaborative efforts of the KALAHI-CIDSS Regional Program Management Office (RPMO), Area Coordinating Teams, local government units, national agencies, and active community volunteers.
“As we wrap up the KALAHI-CIDSS program, we carry forward the spirit of unity, resilience, and progress… Together, we’ve made a meaningful impact on the lives of millions of people and communities we serve.,” according to Regional Director Leonardo Reynoso.
This milestone reflects the transformative potential of community-driven development, setting a benchmark for inclusive growth and sustainable progress in the Philippines. As DSWD transitions to the “Pagkilos” phase and institutionalizes the Community-Driven Development (CDD) approach, the program’s legacy continues to inspire hope for an empowered and inclusive nation.
