The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) MIMAROPA reiterated the increase on the prevailing minimum wage in the region.
Under the Wage Order No. RB-MIMAROPA-12, all employees working in an establishment with 10 workers and above will receive a minimum wage of P430 per day, while those with nine employees below are entitled to P404 minimum wage a day.
On the other hand, the new monthly wage rate for domestic helpers or kasambahay is P6,500 according to Wage Order RB-MIMAROPA-DW-05.
The P35 and P1,000 wage increase, affecting private sectors and domestic workers respectively, took effect on December 23, 2024, DOLE MIMAROPA Regional Director Naomi Lyn C. Abellana announced in a press conference on January 15.
“This adjustment resulted from extensive consultations with labor groups, employers, and stakeholders to balance workers’ welfare and business sustainability, particularly for [micro, small and medium enterprises],” Abellana added.
The DOLE RTWBP MIMAROPA hopes to obtain an Authority to Inspect all establishments by February 15 to check if all establishments and agencies comply with the new wage adjustment.
“Sakop po sa inspection…ang pagtingin sa sahuran ng mga empleyado. Doon pa po namin matingnan kung nagbibigay ba ang [wage] adjustment o hindi,” she said.
(Part of the inspection is checking the employees’ payroll. This is how we will know if the [wage] adjustment is given or not.)
Abellana advised the public to report to the nearest DOLE Provincial Office in their area if there are wage complaints.
“Kung merong complaints on wages, please ipaalam sa nearest provincial office, and the provincial office shall handle it. Hindi po pwedeng sa barangay ang magha-handle sa case na ang issue ay sahuran,” Abellana explained.
The National Wages Productivity Commission directed the RTWBP MIMAROPA to intensify the information campaign to ensure compliance with the wage orders and assist enterprises in addressing wage distortion, she said. (DSG/PIA MIMAROPA – Occidental Mindoro)
