The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in the MIMAROPA region is strengthening its efforts to monitor the employment status of its graduates to ensure that the skills provided by the agency are effectively utilized.
During the recent Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas held in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro, TESDA MIMAROPA Acting Assistant Regional Director Ben-hur Baniqued emphasized the importance of monitoring graduates’ progress through surveys and reports conducted by Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) schools.
“Every two years, TESDA conducts a Survey on the Employment of TVET Graduates to track their employment status. We also require TVET schools to submit regular reports on enrollment, graduates, assessed individuals, certifications, and employment figures,” Baniqued explained.
For this year alone, Baniqued reported that TESDA has helped at least 22,000 scholars across the region enroll in their chosen courses at TVET schools.
These initiatives aim to evaluate the effectiveness of TESDA programs, particularly the percentage of graduates who successfully find employment or venture into entrepreneurship.
He also highlighted that through continuous monitoring, TESDA can identify areas for improvement and ensure that the training programs meet the demands of industries and the job market.
Baniqued also said that TESDA remains committed to providing skills training that empowers Filipinos and enhances their employability, especially in the MIMAROPA region.
