Romblon State University (RSU) has launched its Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Academy, an initiative aimed at fostering province-wide awareness and adoption of the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These global goals aim to achieve a sustainable future, addressing challenges such as poverty, hunger, inequality, climate change, and environmental degradation.
RSU President Dr. Merian Catajay-Mani spearheaded the kick-off ceremony on November 18 in Odiongan, unveiling a specially designed SDG board. The board presents the 17 SDGs translated into the Asi language, making them accessible and relatable to the local community.
To further broaden its reach, RSU has installed similar boards in other municipalities across Tablas Island. These boards feature translations in the province’s three major languages: Asi, Ini, and Onhan.
In a statement, RSU expressed gratitude for its strengthened partnership with local communities and leaders, emphasizing that the initiative aligns with the university’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development.
On November 25, RSU also unveiled its dedicated SDG website, which will serve as a platform for information dissemination and community engagement related to the implementation of the SDGs in Romblon.
