In a significant step towards inclusive education, DOST-MIMAROPA is poised to improve educational resources for children with disabilities in Odiongan, Romblon through the recent signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between DOST-MIMAROPA and Local Government Unit (LGU) of Odiongan.
The initiative seeks to improve the quality of science education for students enrolled in the special education curriculum at Odiongan South Central Elementary School (OCSES), Odiongan North Central Elementary School (ONCES), and Odiongan National High School (ONHS). The school will receive information and communication technology (ICT) resources, such as wireless router systems and computer tablets with DOST-Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly Operated Kiosks (DOST-STARBOOKS). STARBOOKS also known as “Library in a Box” contains a wide range of digitized science and technology resources in various formats that are accessible without internet connection.
The meeting also included a collaborative session with Romblon State University (RSU) and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT)-Romblon, focusing on potential digital and AI-driven solutions for promoting a smarter, more sustainable community in Odiongan. Both RSU and DICT-Romblon expressed strong interest in joining DOST-MIMAROPA and LGU-Odiongan in future initiatives to advance smart and sustainable community projects within the province. (PR)
