The Philippine Coast Guard continues search and rescue operations in the coastal areas of Aklan, Romblon, and Mindoro.
The MBCA Urimy, along with a smaller boat, was traveling from Boracay Island to Caluya, Antique, when they sank during the journey on Monday.
Ten out of the twenty passengers were rescued on Tuesday and are currently being cared for at the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office in San Jose. Survivors reported that they left Boracay early on Monday morning, and their boat sank around 7 a.m.
The smaller boat capsized first, and while MBCA Urimy was conducting rescue efforts, it was also overturned by strong waves. The authorities were alerted to the incident after two survivors were found ashore in San Jose.
