Her mother paused for a moment before replying, “Have you ever noticed that a flashlight isn't made to decorate a shelf? It's made to shine. A key isn't meant to stay in someone's pocket forever—it was designed to open a door. Everything has a purpose because it was created with intention.
“The same is true for us. God didn't create you by accident. He created you on purpose, for a purpose.”
Those words beautifully echo the message found in The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren: life is not about us—it is about God. Our purpose isn't simply to pursue success, popularity, or wealth. We were created to know God, love Him, grow in our faith, serve others with the gifts He has given us, and share His love wherever we go.
Sometimes we become frustrated because we're searching for purpose in places that can never truly satisfy us. We compare our lives with others, wondering why our journey looks different. But God never asked us to live someone else's calling. He asks us to faithfully walk the path He has prepared for us.
This Sunday, instead of asking, “What do I want from life?” perhaps we should ask, “Lord, what do You want to do through my life?”
When we begin to see life through God's perspective, our purpose becomes clearer—not because every question is answered, but because we learn to trust the One who created us.
Remember, your life has meaning long before the world notices it. You are loved, chosen, and wonderfully created with divine intention. Wherever God has placed you today, let your life shine for His glory and be a blessing to others.
