Typhoon “Butchoy” (international name: Nepartak) was eyed Wednesday morning near Aparri, Cagayan province as it continues to move northwest at 30 kph.
State weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Butchoy packed maximum sustained winds of 185 kph near the center, and gustiness of up to 220 kph.
Pagasa earlier said Butchoy would enhance the southwest monsoon currently affecting southern Luzon and Visayas.
Cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms is expected in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Visayas, northern Mindanao, Caraga and Davao.
The rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms.
Moderate to strong winds will blow from southwest over southern Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao and the eastern part of northern and central Luzon.
Coastal waters along this area will be moderate to rough.
Elsewhere, PAGASA said winds will be light to moderate coming from southwest to south with slight to moderate seas. (PNA)
