The Romblon Police Provincial Office (PPO) has called on political candidates to ensure their campaigns adhere to the principles of integrity and respect for the law as the 2025 national and local elections approach.
During the Unity Walk, Inter-Faith Rally, and Covenant Signing held on Wednesday, February 26, Romblon PPO Provincial Director Police Colonel Rexton Sawi reaffirmed the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) commitment to securing a fair, peaceful, and orderly election in the province.
“As we approach the 2025 national and local elections, the Philippine National Police, especially the Romblon Police Provincial Office, remains steadfast in its duty of upholding and ensuring a secure, fair, and peaceful election,” Sawi stated.
He emphasized that elections are the cornerstone of democracy, allowing citizens to exercise their right to vote and select leaders who will shape the country’s future. To this end, he assured that the Romblon PPO would strictly enforce election rules, including the COMELEC gun ban, checkpoints, Oplan Bakal, and Oplan Sita—key measures to maintain public safety during the election period.
The provincial director further vowed to keep Romblon free from violence, intimidation, and unlawful acts that could undermine the integrity of the electoral process.
“We strongly appeal to all candidates to conduct your campaign with integrity and respect for the rule of law. May you lead by example, inspire the people with your platforms, ideas, and programs that truly benefit society,” he urged.
Sawi also called on political leaders to prioritize genuine public service over personal or partisan interests, highlighting the importance of ethical leadership in guiding Romblon’s communities toward progress and unity.
The event, organized by the Romblon PPO, gathered local government officials, law enforcement agencies, civil society groups, and religious leaders to collectively promote a peaceful election season. Candidates who attended the covenant signing pledged their commitment to a clean and honest campaign.
