The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) continues to support Romblomanon students pursuing degrees in science and technology-related fields. This was highlighted by Zenchin Geri Pormento, Supervising Science Research Specialist, during the Kapihan sa PIA Romblon held on January 31.
According to Pormento, DOST is currently monitoring 48 scholars enrolled at Romblon State University (RSU). These students were selected through tough examinations for the DOST Undergraduate Scholarship Program and the Junior Level Science Scholarship Program.
The DOST Undergraduate Scholarship Program is designed for incoming college students who wish to pursue priority fields in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Scholars under this program receive financial assistance, including tuition fees, monthly stipends, book allowances, and other benefits.
On the other hand, the Junior Level Science Scholarship Program is intended for third-year college students who are enrolled in STEM courses. This program provides similar benefits, including tuition support, monthly stipends, and allowances, to help students complete their degrees and prepare for careers in science and technology.
The 48 scholars from Romblon are among the hundreds of students nationwide benefiting from this scholarship program.
Pormento emphasized that these scholarship programs are part of DOST’s commitment to empowering Filipino youth and addressing the country’s need for skilled professionals in critical fields.
“This is part of our support for talented and deserving youth who sometimes face financial challenges in pursuing their education. We are looking forward to them joining the science and technology sector after they graduate,” Pormento said.
DOST encourages more students to apply for these scholarships and take advantage of the opportunities they offer.
