The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) Romblon, has initiated the installation of free Wi-Fi sites in various schools across the province.
On Friday, during the celebration of World Teacher’s Day in San Agustin, Romblon, DICT MIMAROPA Regional Director Emmy Lou Delfin led the ceremonial switch-on, signaling the start of the free Wi-Fi service in 31 schools in the province.
Delfin emphasized the importance of this initiative in bridging the digital divide, ensuring that students and educators in rural communities have the same opportunities for digital access as those in urban areas.
“Through this program, we are ensuring that the future we dream is not just for some but for all, whether we are in the basking cities or in the rural corners of the nation,” Delfin stated during the event.
Also present at the event were local officials and leaders from different government units.
This project aligns with DICT’s broader vision of promoting digital inclusion, ensuring that access to technology and internet resources is available to every Filipino, regardless of their location. The program is expected to benefit not only students and teachers but also the broader community by providing access to online information, educational resources, and digital opportunities.
