The Department of Education (DepEd) will host a one-stop serbisyo caravan exclusively for teachers and non-teaching personnel on October 4, in celebration of World Teachers’ Day, to be held in San Agustin, Romblon.
According to DepEd Romblon Schools Division Superintendent Roger Capa, who made the announcement during the Kapihan sa PIA Romblon on Thursday, September 26, the event aims to provide essential services to teachers as a gesture of gratitude for their hard work and dedication.
In partnership with Anakalusugan Partylist and the Romblon Provincial Government, the caravan will offer a variety of medical and dental services. Teachers can undergo several medical tests, including chest X-ray, ECG, ultrasound (abdomen), 2D Echo, CBC, RBS, NBS, blood sugar tests, lipid profile tests, and PCOS testosterone tests. A mobile laboratory will be set up to accommodate these services, ensuring comprehensive health checks for the teachers.
An ophthalmologist and a psychologist will also be available for consultations, focusing on mental health and vision care, which are crucial for the well-being of educators.
Capa highlighted that DepEd Romblon currently employs 5,700 teaching and non-teaching personnel. This workforce will benefit greatly from the wide array of services being offered.
Apart from healthcare services, other government agencies will be participating in the caravan to provide additional services. The Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) will offer license renewals, authentication services, and ID duplication for teachers. Additionally, a team from PAG-IBIG Fund based in Calapan City will provide services, including Loyalty Card Plus, among others.
The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) will be present to assist teachers with loan applications and account status inquiries. The Land Transportation Office (LTO) will facilitate the mobile renewal of driver’s licenses, and the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) will offer services such as national ID registration and birth certificate authentication.
PhilHealth, the Civil Service Commission (CSC), and other government stakeholders will also be setting up booths to cater to teachers’ needs.
Moreover, teachers attending the event can avail of free wellness services, including massages, haircuts, manicures, and pedicures. Capa emphasized that this exclusive event is the government’s and DepEd’s way of recognizing and appreciating the dedication and service of teachers to the nation.
