The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC)-Mimaropa assured its continued assistance to Palawan local governments in its Odette relief operations.
Mimaropa RDRRMC conducted a recent joint meeting with the local disaster risk reduction and management offices of Palawan and Puerto Princesa City to exchange updates on services provided to affected populations.
Office of Civil Defense (OCD)-Mimaropa recently facilitated the delivery of 28,280 water bottles and fuel assistance to affected local government units (LGUs) in Palawan.
Provincial DRRMO Palawan has provided 9,225 family food packs in Araceli, Dumaran, Linapacan, Roxas, Magsaysay, San Vicente, Cuyo, Cagayancillo, Agutaya and the Kalayaan Islands.
The Office of the Vice President, likewise, sent food and other necessities in Roxas and San Vicente while the Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corporation donated 500 sacks of rice to Taytay.
Based on the data from the Mimaropa RDRRMC as of December 27, there are 81,255 families or about 371,341 individuals affected from 295 barangays of Palawan, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon where pre-emptive evacuations were carried out.
In Puerto Princesa City, 27,226 families have been affected; eight confirmed deaths and six others missing, all in Palawan, during the passage of Typhoon Odette.
Still for validation by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) are the reported 15 deaths, 2 cases of injuries, and 3 persons missing.
Meanwhile reports from National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) as of December 31 showed damages to 213 infrastructures in Mimaropa reached P1,318,106,507.
The number of totally damaged houses in the region is 29,350 while the number of partially damaged houses is 33,299.
Total cost of damages to regional agriculture is 2,530,523,301.53: affected crop areas are about 18,967.19 hectares; affected livestock/poultry, 54,377 and affected agricultural infrastructures/equipment, 5,075.50.
The combined contributions of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Mimaropa and LGUs to the humanitarian assistance cost P20, 306,520.50. (LP)
