Tablas Island, Romblon is the largest island that comprise the Marble Capital of the Philippines, Romblon Province, MIMAROPA. The name of the island was of Spanish origin. Before the colonialization of the Philippines, Tablas was known as the Island of Osigan. At the time of contact with Westerners, Osigan had a population of two hundred and fifty people living in small villages. Wax was produced in this island.
The Island is the home of 9 municipalities namely, Alcantara, Calatrava, Ferrol, Looc, Odiongan, San Agustin, San Andres, Santa Fe, and Santa Maria.
How to Get to Tablas Island, Romblon via Ferry
1. From Manila, take a bus bound to Batangas Port. You may take Jam Liner with a terminals found in Cubao and Buendia Pasay.
2. Upon arrival in Batangas Port, go to RORO ticketing offices to buy your tickets.
3. There are 2 major RORO boats that travels to Odiongan, Romblon. One is Montenegro Shipping Lines with a route of Batangas-Odiongan. Another is 2GO Travel with a route of Batangas-Odiongan-Caticlan.
