Authorities from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Romblon District Jail reported that a greyhound operation conducted last Tuesday, November 26, resulted in zero findings of weapons or contraband within its facility in Sitio Tagaytay, Brgy. Lonos, Romblon.
Acting Warden Jail Inspector Fatima Rabino said the operation was a joint effort involving 10 jail personnel and 4 members of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), with K9 units deployed to assist in detecting possible illegal drug storages.
She said that 92 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) underwent the pat, frisk, and body search while 3 male dormitories and 1 female dormitory were checked.
Meanwhile, the BJMP MIMAROPA’s initiatives include surprise inspections and drug test of personnel, periodic joint greyhound operations with other national law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts in the fight against illegal drugs, and use of positive approaches in the rehabilitation of victims of substance use.
The bureau also emphasized its commitment to rehabilitation programs for PDLs, supported by collaborations with local government units, religious organizations, and both local and international non-governmental organizations.
“No illegal drugs or contraband were discovered during the operation,” according to the report from BJMP-RDJ. (with reports from JO3 Joefrie Anglo, IO-BJMP MIMAROPA)
