The Commission on Elections (Comelec) introduced the Automated Counting Machine (ACM) to voters in Romblon on Monday, showcasing the technology that will be used in the national and local elections scheduled for May 12, 2025.
ACMs were deployed across all towns in the province for in-person demonstrations as part of Comelec’s nationwide roadshow aimed at familiarizing voters with the advanced election technology.
The ACM boasts cutting-edge features, including a 14-inch touchscreen, sensor, scanner, printer, camera, USB ports, an external keypad, and a voter’s receipt receptacle. These components aim to ensure a faster, more accurate, and transparent electoral process.
The machines are part of the Full Automation System with Transparency and Audit/Count (FASTrAC), developed by South Korean joint venture firm Miru Systems, which Comelec selected as the service provider for the 2025 midterm elections.
The FASTrAC system encompasses several key components, including the ACM for efficient and accurate vote counting, the consolidation and canvassing system to tally results at various electoral levels, the election management system to oversee and coordinate all aspects of the election process, the online voting and counting system for remote participation in elections, and secure electronic transmission services to transmit election results safely and reliably.
