The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) recently awarded livelihood grants to 67 individual beneficiaries from Corcuera in Simara Island.
In a press release, DOLE Romblon said that the Local Government of Corcuera, an Accredited Co-Partner of DOLE, received a total of P1,956,578 grant to be distributed to their beneficiaries.
Beneficiaries' livelihood ventures include food processing, motorized boats, fishing aids and paraphernalia for local fishermen, sewing businesses for textile enthusiasts, barber shops for grooming needs, and enhancement of hog-raising enterprises.
“These ventures are not only a source of income for their families but also hold the potential to contribute significantly to the overall economic development and prosperity of the entire Corcuera community,” according to DOLE.
DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) Focal Person and Senior Labor Employment Officer Karen Bugarin attended the awarding ceremony wherein she also provided an overview of the DILP, which is one of the agency's flagship programs.
The DILP aims to offer assistance and capacity-building for livelihood and entrepreneurial endeavors, particularly to vulnerable, disadvantaged, and marginalized workers in the country. The program aligns with DOLE's commitment to fostering economic growth and improving the livelihoods of the Filipino workforce.
