The Book Nook Marinduque would be having its first-year anniversary by this coming November 24 along with 50 other sites in the country.
Though the flagship program of the National Book Development Board, the BN Marinduque was among the first batch of sites all over the country to set up reading centers.
This month, in celebration of Reading, Libraries & Information Services, and Children’s Month, Book Nook Marinduque has started implementing Hibla Local Filipina 3 with dance, drawing, retelling, theater, and music writing workshops in two more outreach sites in Gasan and Boac.
There are at least 75 participants from elementary schools in Ino, Capayang and Laon, Mogpog along with Bognuyan, Mahunig-Banot, Gasan, along with secondary schools participants from Mogpog Comprehensive National High School, MSC Integrated High School, and Marinduque National High School Special Program for the Arts with the MSC Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education.
Book Nook Marinduque tapped the expertise of local cultural educators and teacher-scholars, local artists and craft makers like Cassius Nitoral for drawing, Randy Sales for dance, Ka Oscar Loreto for music and songwriting, Romilyn Brual for story and retelling, Carl Lagar and Bryan Viray on theater arts. — (with reports from Randy Nobleza)
