As part of the Food Production and Livelihood (FPL) sub-program under the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources – Special Area for Agriculture Development (BFAR-SAAD), five fisherfolk associations (FAs) in San Jose, Romblon, received inputs to enhance their seaweed farming and capture fishing activities last June 10.
The distributed inputs included 7 sets of payao or fish aggregating devices (FADs), 15 sets of seaweed farm implements, 5 units of 14 cu. ft. HD inverted chest freezers, 25 sets of tuna handlines, and 90 sets of hook and line.
These resources are intended to improve the productivity and sustainability of the beneficiaries’ fishing operations.
The inputs were provided to the following fisherfolk associations: Samahang Mangingisda Responsable at Aktibong mga taga Lanas (SAMARAL), Samahan Upang Gabayan ang Poblacion sa Pag-Unlad (SUGPO), Pinamihagan Alagaan ang Kalikasan Upang Yumaman 1 & 2 (PAKUY 1 & 2), and Busay u Unlad ang Samahang may Layunin at Organisadong Grupo (BUSALOG).
