The success of the 3-day national vaccination days dubbed as ‘Bayanihan, Bakunahan ’ resulted to the administration of more than nine million Covid-19 doses in the country while the upcoming second leg of the vaccination drive, the Bayanihan, Bakunahan 2 slated on December 15, 16 & 17 targets the inoculation of seven million members of the eligible population.
With the National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19 deputy chiefs’ visit in the vaccination site at the Main Square Mall, Bacoor City this December 13, the visit is in preparation for said second phase.
Vaccine Czar and NTF against CoVid-19 Chief Implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez, Jr. and Deputy Chief Implementer Secretary Vince B. Dizon together with the newly appointed Department of Health (DOH) Provincial Director Ariel I. Valencia, and DOH Assistant Secretary Ma. Francia Miciano-Laxamana, and other health agency heads joined the event.
During the short program, Secretary Carlito Galvez lauded the city government of Bacoor’s CoVid-19 response with the significant decrease in the number of Active CoVid cases from 3,500 to 19 and a job well done as it ranked fourth in the city category for the most number of vaccine doses administered during the 1st leg of the Bayanihan, Bakunahan campaign drive.
Secretary Galvez added that the CALABARZON region was recognized as the top performer in the said national vaccination drive with the administration of a total of 1,147,302 doses exceeding the target of 1,020,000 doses with the province of Cavite contributing to this achievement.
To urge the public to get vaccinated the vaccine czar said, “Ang pagbabakuna ay ang pinakamahalagang regalo para sa sarili at sa mga mahal sa buhay ngayong pasko.” (Vaccination is the most important gift for yourself and your loved ones this Christmas.)
Representing DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III, DOH ASEC Ma. Laxamana read the secretary’s message that signified the importance of getting vaccinated against CoViD-19 as he cited the likelihood of getting severe symptoms and eventually death from the disease if one remains unvaccinated.
Likewise, the health secretary urged everyone to join the Bayanihan, Bakunahan 2 to once again achieve and even exceed the number of vaccines administered during the first phase.
Presidential Adviser for Flagship Programs and Projects Secretary Vince Dizon shared that 90% of those hospitalized in Africa with CoViD-19 are unvaccinated individuals.
“The only solution to overcome this pandemic is to get the protection against Covid-19 by getting vaccinated,” Dizon stated.
Secretary Dizon also assured the public that there will be enough supply of vaccines because more vaccines are coming, and about 1.5M doses of the single-dose Janssen vaccine are expected to arrive during the night.
Meanwhile, DOH 4A Provincial Director Ariel L. Valencia recognized and expressed his utmost appreciation to the health workers, frontliners and volunteers who joined and participated in the vaccination campaign that brought the recognition to the region. (RBF/PIA-Cavite)
