The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) in Romblon are collaborating to advocate for the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the province.
In a seminar-workshop held at the new e-Library facility of Romblon State University, AI was introduced to business owners by representatives from DICT and DTI Romblon.
Orville Mallorca, the Provincial Director of DTI Romblon, emphasized the significance of integrating AI into business operations while ensuring consumer protection.
During the seminar, Wenna Mae Foja, an Information Systems Analyst from DICT, provided a comprehensive overview of AI, covering its basic concepts, implications for consumers, and the legal and ethical frameworks necessary for fair AI implementation.
Additionally, Foja discussed consumer rights in the AI era and elaborated on the process of creating AI bots for automated messaging on social media platforms.
The activity is part of the celebration of World Consumer Rights Day observed every March 15 of every year.
