Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go will now be the standard-bearer of rulling party Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) for the presidential race in 2022 polls.
This is after the withdrawal of Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa from the race on Saturday.
Go submitted his statement of withdrawal as vice-presidential candidate and certificate of candidacy (COC) for president at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) main office in Intramuros, Manila.
He was accompanied by President Rodrigo Duterte.
It was not yet revealed who Go’s running mate will be but Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Martin Andanar said on Saturday.
Andanar said that the President will be back on Monday to file his COC.
“Babalik ang Presidente sa Monday para mag-file ng kandidatura sa pagkabise presidente,” Andanar told reporters.
