In response to the upcoming holidays, the government has introduced a work-from-home (WFH) arrangement for its employees and asynchronous classes for public schools on October 31, as detailed in Memorandum Circular (MC) 38 signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin under the authority of the President.
MC 38 outlines the temporary WFH arrangement in government offices, allowing government employees to work remotely. Simultaneously, public schools will conduct asynchronous classes on October 31, 2023.
This decision is aimed at providing government employees with the opportunity to observe All Saints’ Day on November 1, 2023, and enable them to travel to different regions across the country during the long weekend.
The circular specifies that government agencies involved in delivering essential services, disaster preparedness and response, and other critical functions will continue their regular in-person operations and service delivery.
MC 38 does not extend the same arrangements to private companies or private schools, leaving such decisions to the discretion of their respective heads.
