Prominent, well-known personalities and locals of Oriental Mindoro recently flocked to Jolly Waves Waterpark & Resort for the Miss Earth 2019 Talent Competition last October 10.
Hosted by the Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro, the City Government of Calapan and Jolly Waves, the Miss Earth 2019 Fire Group Competition brought delegates from 27 countries all over the world to Calapan City.
After a motorcade from the Calapan Port, the delegates were welcomed at the Provincial Capitol by Provincial Administrator Hubert Christopher A. Dolor, representing Governor Humerlito ‘Bonz’ Dolor.
Meanwhile, Calapan City Vice Mayor Gil G. Ramirez represented City Mayor Arnan C. Panaligan, when the candidates visited the Calapan City Hall. Jolly Waves Chairman Mr. Jolly L. Ting was present at both the Provincial Capitol and the City Hall to welcome the pageant contenders.
Conceptualized in 2001, the Miss Earth is an International Environmental Event that promotes sustainability. It channels the beauty pageant entertainment industry as an effective tool in promoting environmental awareness and eco-tourism spots.
Wrapping up the event, Miss Mongolia Azzaya Tsogt-Ochir got the Gold Medal, while Miss Denmark Sara Langtved bagged the Silver Medal and the Bronze Medal was won by Miss Korea Heejun Woo.
The talent competition had a panel of judges composed of Oriental Mindoro Governor Bonz Dolor, City Councilor Marian Teresa Tagupa, Pola Mayor Jennifer M. Cruz, Jolliville Holdings Corporation Vice President Ortrud T. Yao and Jolliville Leisure & Resort Corporate Chairman Jolly Ting.
Criteria for judging were as follows: 40% Creativity; 35% Stage Presence; and 25% Audience Impact.
To further promote environmental awareness and sustainability, the delegates also held a tree-planting activity sponsored by Calapan Water and the Department of Environment and Natural resources on October 11. Dennis Nebrejo/PIA-OrMin)
