In commemoration of the 2023 Labor Day, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in the Mimaropa region organized an event to honor and provide services to workers in the informal sector.
The celebration, held on June 7 in Looc, Romblon focused on briefing the graduates of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) about the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP).
Regional Director Naomi Lyn C. Abellana highlighted the significant contributions of workers in the informal sector to the country’s economy.
The event aimed to promote and recognize their economic and social impact in line with the Labor Day theme, “Inobasyon, Inklusibong Proyeksyon at Pantay na Represntasyong Panlipunan Tungo sa Matatag na Kabuhayan ng Manggagawang nasa Impormal na Sektor.”
Over 200 4Ps graduates from various towns, including Banton, Corcuera, Alcantara, Odiongan, San Jose, Looc, Ferrol, and San Agustin, attended the event. Karen Bugarin, the livelihood focal person of DOLE Romblon, served as one of the resource persons, providing insights on the requirements and preparations necessary to participate in the DILP.
The one-day activity also included a learning session about the programs and courses offered by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
Congressman Eleandro Madrona and Mayor Lisette Arboleda graced the event, showing their support for the workers in the informal sector. Personnel from DOLE Romblon and DOLE Mimaropa were also present to facilitate the event.
