Police Regional Office MIMAROPA Director Police Brigadier General Sidney Sultan Hernia hailed the successful recovery of several Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), ammunition, and other war materials used by the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) in Occidental Mindoro on Tuesday, October 25, 2022.
Police report revealed that composite elements from the Provincial Intelligence Team Occidental Mindoro under the Regional Intelligence Unit 4B, PNP Intelligence Group together with the operatives from the 102nd Special Action Company under the 10th Special Action Battalion, PNP Special Action Force; and other PNP units in Occidental Mindoro were conducting joint counter-insurgency operation when they recovered 6 improvised explosive devices (tubular type), 12 pieces of cal. 5.56 ammunition, 4 pieces of cal. 7.62 ammunition, assorted vitamins and medicines, nails, flashlight, electric wires, batteries and other CTG personal belongings in Sitio Danupa, Barangay Pitogo, Rizal, of the said province.
“The recovery of the said CTG explosives and war materials manifest the continuing gains of the government in its campaign against terrorism and insurgency,” PBGen Hernia said.
Statistics revealed that since January this year, PRO MIMAROPA through the National Task Force to End Local Communist Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) has already facilitated the surrender of 129 communist rebels.
“We aim to make MIMAROPA free from the presence and influence of the communist terrorist groups. Hence, I urge all police unit leaders in the region to sustain the positive gains in our campaign against insurgency and terrorism through the NTF-ELCAC,” PBGen Hernia remarked.
