To recognize young student leaders’ service and leadership rendered for the entire academic year, the Supreme Student Council (SSC)-Main Campus pulled off its first ever Student Leaders’ Gawad Parangal at the University Quadrangle, June 30.
Revolving around the concept ‘gilak’ which signifies brilliance, the event was joined in by stellar student leaders from various college and non-college organizations along with their advisers who exemplified renowned leadership skills.
The Office of the Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) Director, Dr. Ester Lilang Forlales and the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA), Dr. Emelyn Rico-Villanueva delivered respective messages and words of commendation during the night.
Besides, Hon. Trina Alejandra Firmalo-Fabic, Odiongan Municipal Mayor, served as the keynote speaker who acknowledged young student leaders’ roles and kept a constant reminder to continuously ignite the flame of leadership in every RSUvian heart.
Furthermore, the occasion served as an avenue for accredited student organizations to banner their annual progress reports reflecting the programs and causes they managed to handle during their respective terms of office.
The College of Arts and Sciences Student Organization (CASSO) emerged as the Best Performing College Organization along with John Lloyd Rocero and Mr. Kreisler I. Fontamillas as the Most Outstanding College Organization President and Most Outstanding College Organization Adviser respectively.
Occupying the second spot, the College of Engineering and Technology Student Organization (CETSO) was hailed as the Top 2 Best Performing College Organization. Then, the College of Agriculture, Fishery, and Forestry Student Organization (CAFFSO) bagged home the third place.
Moreover, Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA) from the College of Business and Accountancy (CBA) ended up as the Best Performing Department Organization with Mikeelyn Basiño as the Most Outstanding Department Organization President along with Ms. Bless Faith Andal as the Most Outstanding Department Organization Adviser.
For the non-college organization category, Beta Sigma Fraternity and Sigma Beta Sorority brought home the Best Non-College Organization Award together with Ritz Vincent Porton and Mr. Julius Llacer and the Most Outstanding Non-College Organization President and Most Outstanding Non-College Organization Adviser respectively.
Consequently, Romblon Book Club-RSU Chapter copped the Top 2 Best Performing Non-College Organization Award followed by the Public Campus Ministry being the Top 3 Best Performing Non-College Organization.
Budding RSUvian local artists like TJ Rufon, Jaira Caniendo, and Shekinah Rufon rendered fantastic musical showmanships which further spiced up the night of radiance and competence.
This academic year’s RSU Student Leaders’ Gawad Parangal became possible through the able leadership of the SSC President, Russel Ace Patulot together with his council members and other key student leaders serving with honor and excellence.
