The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) recently organized a technical academy accreditation workshop in Odiongan, Romblon, as part of its efforts to improve the quality of basketball officiating in the province.
At least 60 referees participated in the workshop, aiming to earn their accreditation upon completion. The program emphasized skill development and adherence to national standards in basketball officiating.
During the opening ceremony, Froilan Miralles, president of the Romblon Referees Association (RomRA), expressed hope that all participants would successfully complete the program and continue to officiate basketball games professionally.
The event was also attended by Odiongan Vice Mayor Diven Dimaala and Sangguniang Bayan (SB) members Jack Fernandez, Ricmel Falqueza, and Rey Garcia. In his address, Vice Mayor Dimaala offered a gesture of support to the referees, pledging that they and their families could access medical insurance benefits at his ISIAH Hospital and Medical Center during hospitalization.
This initiative underscores SBP’s commitment to nurturing sports development and empowering local referees to contribute to basketball’s growth in Romblon.
