The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) commended the province of Romblon for its successful anti-illegal drugs campaign.
Romblon Governor Jose Riano received the award on November 22, making Romblon the sole province in Mimaropa recognized for its highly functional Anti-Drug Abuse Council.
Expressing gratitude, Governor Riano acknowledged the collaborative efforts from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Philippine National Police (PNP), local government units (LGU), and barangays, emphasizing their unity in maintaining a drug-free province.
Romblon joins the ranks of 246 local government units nationwide that received this recognition.
DILG Secretary Benjamin ‘Benhur’ Abalos Jr. explained that awardees were selected based on the functionality and sustainability of Anti-Drug Abuse Councils and the drug-free or drug-cleared status of the area.
The completion rate of graduates versus enrollees at the Community-Based Drug Rehabilitation Program (CBDRP) was one of the factors considered for the award.
