The Police Provincial Office of Oriental Mindoro, Provincial Government Oriental Mindoro Governor Humerlito Dolor, together with four Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) members and two former rebels led the launching of denouncement message ceremony to the supporters, affiliates and members of Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) in Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro on August 14, 2023.
Oriental Mindoro Police Provincial Director Col. Samuel S. Delorino announced a plan to stop the violence among the communities and individuals who are not able to defend against the power of CPP-NPA in the province.
“One of the main challenges for the police is responding to incidents related to insurgency in our province. Many lives have been lost and livelihoods have been destroyed because of the twisted ideologies and useless ones that are being fought through armed struggle,” said Delorino.
Delorino hopes for peace and also seeks to align the province with the previously declared ‘Insurgency Free’ provinces such as Romblon, Marinduque, Palawan and the city of Puerto Princesa. Delorino added that it will have a great positive effect on the development of the province, especially in the field of economy and tourism.
“The police, in cooperation with the Local Government, the military, the church and the community, call on the supporters and members of the Communist Terrorist Groups of the NPA to denounce terrorist activities and choose to return to the government and live in freedom and peace,” concluded Delorino’s message.
This is in relation to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr’s reminder to the country’s police officers to always remember their oath to serve and protect the Filipino people.
In a speech of President Marcos delivered by Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. on August 13, the President told the police force that their pledge of allegiance is not just for the Philippine National Police (PNP), but also for the public.
“The moment you take your oath, you pledge your allegiance not just to the Philippine National Police. You pledge your commitment and dedication to the public, to the Filipino people (whom) you promise to serve and protect,” President Marcos said.
(GATS/PIA MIMAROPA)
