With the recognition that natural disasters can strike at any moment, delegates from the MIMAROPA Regional Athletic Association (MRAA) representing Palawan, Oriental Mindoro, and Calapan City temporarily halted their preparations to engage in an Earthquake Drill at Romblon National High School on Sunday.
The drill aimed to promote awareness and equip MRAA Meet participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to respond effectively during seismic events.
This was after Odiongan, one of the municipalities in the province, recently felt a 4.8 magnitude earthquake a few days before the kickoff of the Mimaropa RAA Meet 2023.
Cristine Miñano, the Division DRRM Coordinator, organized the activity in collaboration with the Bureau of Fire Protection, Romblon Police, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, and the faculty and staff of Romblon National High School.
During the drill, participants demonstrated the proper execution of the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” technique.
