Amid Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in the Province of Romblon, untiring efforts of Banton Municipal Police Station with the cooperation of the personel of the Philippine Coast Guard Banton conducted Joint Seaborne Patrol Operation last April 26, 2020 on or about 04:00 in the morning at the vicinity of La Carlota Island in the Municipality of Banton, Romblon.
The said operation was successful resulting to the apprehension of FV SAN NICOLAS F. NATIVIDAD (Catcher Boat), 143.25 GT and FV STO. NIÑO DE PROVEDENCIA (Carrier Boat) 176.74 GT, both owned and managed by REINA MERCEDES FISHING CORPORATION of Barangay Dalampasigan, Pitogo, Quezon.
Rev. Fr. Ric Magro together with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) MIMAROPA-Romblon Provincial Fisheries Office headed by Luisito M. Manes and Romblon Provincial Police Office assisted in the filing of case and for proper documentation.
BFAR provided technical assistance during the abovementioned activity, to wit: measurement of mesh size of the fishing gear used, commercial Fishing Vessel/Gear License (CFVGL) inspection and proper disposal of seized fishery products.
Confiscated from the illegal fishing were Nine Hundred-Twenty Kilograms of Matambaka and Tulingan with an estimated market value of Ninety-two Thousand Pesos(Php 92,000.00) were properly disposed to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) of Banton.
Apprehended fishing vessel will be impounded at Romblon, Romblon for evidence purposes and custody. Both Administrative and Criminal Case will be filed by the Banton MPS and SB Bemboy Fonte, Chair-Agriculture and Fisheries against the violators at the Provincial Trial Court, Romblon, Romblon.
