The Department of Health (DOH) provides a list of suggested suitable toys to ensure the safety of younger kids.
The health department suggests the following toys for kids, aged 0 to 1 year old like large brightly colored balls and unbreakable mirrors with steel borders especially made for babies.
The DOH also suggests washable stuffed dolls or animals for infants with big clearly outlined faces. However, parents and guardians are suggested not to put stuffed toys or animals inside the baby’s crib – it could suffocate the baby or may be used to climb out of the crib.
For kids 2-3 years old, DOH suggests toys like wooden animals, dolls, sturdy kiddy cars, modeling clay, and rocking horses.
Meanwhile, for preschoolers, gifts such as puppets, push toys, building blocks, balls, and kites are suggested this holiday season. (DOH/PIA-NCR)
