The inaugural 1st Bicol Saro Cup, held in Brgy. Agnipa, Romblon, was a resounding success, organized with the support of Cong. Brian Yamsuan and Barangay Chairman Andres ‘Kap Jo’ Mangaring, Jr.
After a week of intense competition, the finals saw Bagacay and Agnipa battle it out on Friday at the Tito & Alejandra Mortos multi-purpose hall.
Bagacay’s team was spearheaded by former San Beda center Donald Tankoua and import Dylan Garcia. Agnipa’s lineup included former MPBL star Jerome Garcia and ex-Emilio Aguinaldo College varsity player Hamadou Laminou.
Bagacay emerged victorious, defeating Team Agnipa 88-70.
Ilauran claimed the 2nd runner-up spot, while Palje took 3rd runner-up. The Auckland team also participated in the tournament.
The champion team received a trophy and P250,000. The first runner-up was awarded P170,000; the second runner-up, P120,000; and the third runner-up, P60,000.
