Authorities who are conducting search and rescue operations recovered the lifeless body of a student who was suspected to have drowned in Barangay Togong, Banton, Romblon.
On the morning of May 23, the body of Vandolf Fabula Faderanga, a 23-year-old male and third-year student at Romblon State University, was retrieved by authorities.
According to reports, Faderanga had gone fishing with friends on the evening of May 22, using a speargun. While his friends decided to head home around 9:30 PM, Faderanga remained behind, continuing his fishing activity.
Concern arose when Faderanga did not return home by 10:00 PM, prompting his friends to check on him. Upon discovering his absence, Faderanga's family sought assistance from Barangay Chairman Necito Faderanga, who promptly reported the incident to the Philippine Coast Guard and the local police.
The body was transported to the Banton Rural Health Unit for further investigation.
Authorities are still conducting inquiries to determine the circumstances leading to Faderanga's death.
