Over 1,700 students from Romblon State University (RSU) in Odiongan, Romblon, recently received educational cash assistance amounting to P4,000 each from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
The fund release, totaling P4,084,000, aimed to support students in their academic pursuits during these challenging times. The financial aid was sourced from both the congressional initiative fund of Congressman Eleandro Jesus Madrona and the fund requested by Governor Jose Riano from DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian.
In a distribution event attended by Congressman Eleandro Madrona, Governor Jose Riano, Vice Governor Armando Gutierrez, and RSU President Merian Catajay-Mani, the educational cash assistance was handed over to deserving students.
“The final year of college is a critical juncture in the lives of these students, and this financial assistance serves as a timely and meaningful gift,” emphasized Congressman Madrona, highlighting the importance of supporting students during this pivotal phase in their academic journey.
Abegail Fetilo, the Social Welfare and Development Team Leader, said that the assistance aid aims to support the student’s educational needs and provide financial assistance for their academic expenses.
