The Social Security System (SSS) has introduced enhanced guidelines for its Social Security (SS) Funeral Benefit Program. This new guideline was announced during a press conference led by Atty. Alejandre Diaz, SSS Vice President at Acting Head of the Luzon South 2 Department.
Under the new guidelines recently implemented, beneficiaries of deceased members with 36 or more monthly contributions now have the opportunity to receive funeral benefits ranging from P20,000 to P60,000. The specific amount provided will be determined based on the member’s total paid contributions and average monthly salary credit (AMSC).
Members who have made at least one (1) but fewer than 36 monthly contributions until the time of their passing will receive a fixed funeral benefit of P12,000. In the event of a member’s demise, a surviving legal spouse will be prioritized over other claimants.
Atty. Diaz emphasized that these adjustments are a step toward ensuring the SSS’s financial stability.
Additionally, Atty. Diaz encouraged SSS member-claimants to file their funeral benefit applications online through their My.SSS accounts on the official SSS website, www.sss.gov.ph. Non-member claimants, on the other hand, may submit their applications at any SSS branch.
