President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has officially declared October 30, a Monday, a special non-working day in the Philippines to exercise Filipinos’ right to vote in the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (BSKE) elections.
This announcement, made public on Wednesday, comes in light of the Supreme Court’s approval of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) proceeding with the scheduled BSKE on October 30, 2023.
This date change is in line with Republic Act (RA) 11935, which President Marcos signed into law on October 10 the previous year
