Residents of Sitio Cuarenta are now reaping the benefits of a completed road widening project by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Barangay Dayap, Municipality of Sta. Cruz, Occidental Mindoro.
Citing a report from DPWH Region 4-B Director Gerald A. Pacanan, DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan said that the project covers the construction of additional 3.5-meter wide pavement and 2.5-meter wide shoulders on both sides, along the 1.5-kilometer portion of Mindoro West Coastal Road.
The project also includes construction of stone masonry, box culvert, and intermittent grouted rip rap slope protection structure on critical areas.
Rich with natural resources and picturesque tourist sites such as the Carindan Lake and Taklala Falls, the coastal town of Sta. Cruz flourishes in the industries of tourism, farming, and fishing.
“This project has improved mobility and helped facilitate easier transport of agricultural goods, services, and people from Sitio Cuarenta in Barangay Dayap to the town proper,” said Director Pacanan.
The project was implemented by DPWH Mindoro Occidental District Engineering Office in the amount of ₱27.8-million and was funded under the 2022 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
