Police Regional Office MIMAROPA Director Police Brigadier General Sidney Sultan Hernia commended anew the PNP’s anti-insurgency efforts through National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) that resulted in the voluntary surrender of three members of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Occidental Mindoro on Wednesday, November 9, 2022.
The police report revealed that “Ka Efren,” 62, PSR-listed; “Ka Bato,” 37; and “Ka Robert,” 37, all residents of Magsaysay of the said province, voluntarily surrendered to the Provincial Intelligence Team Occidental Mindoro under Regional Intelligence Unit 4B in Barangay Poblacion, of the said town at around 3:00 PM.
The surrender of the three NPA rebels was made possible through the support from Occidental Mindoro’s 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company, Provincial Intelligence Unit, and Magsaysay Municipal Police Station; Occidental Mindoro Provincial Field Unit under PNP-CIDG; 102nd Special Action Company under 10th Special Action Battalion, PNP-SAF; and Occidental Mindoro CIT under Regional Intelligence Division MIMAROPA.
The said surrenderers were members of the Kilusang Larangang Gerilya Mark Anthony Velasco (KLG-MAV) under Lucio De Guzman Command of the Sub-Regional Military Area (SRMA-4D), Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee (STRPC).
The former rebels are now being assisted under the supervision of RIU 4B for their enrollment in the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).
Records revealed that since January this year, PRO MIMAROPA has already facilitated the successful surrender of 141 communist rebels in the entire region.
“The surrender of these former rebels is another concrete proof of the success of the government’s campaign against terrorism and insurgency under the NTF-ELCAC,” PBGen Hernia said.
