Police Regional Office MIMAROPA, under the leadership of PBGen Sidney Hernia, arrested an alleged drug peddler listed as a high-value individual in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Sto. Niño, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro on Monday, August 29, 2022.
Calapan City Police Station Chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Anthony J Ramos revealed that Kenneth Afable, 24, who hails from Barangay Lumangbayan, of the said city, was arrested after allegedly selling one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing “shabu” in exchange for Php1000.00 to a police poseur buyer in a joint police operation led by the operatives from the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit/Regional Special Concern Group (RPDEU/RCSG) 4B, together with the personnel from Calapan CPS, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 4B, and Oriental Mindoro PPO 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company.
Seized from the suspect’s possession were seven more pieces of small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing “shabu”, weighing approximately at 1.63 grams and valued at Php11,084.00; the buy bust money; and other paraphernalia.
The arrested suspect is now under police custody while charges in violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (RA 9165) are being prepared for the inquest proceedings against him.
The data from the PNP Drug-Related Data Integration and Generation System (DRDIGS) of the Regional Operations Division show that since January this year, PRO MIMAROPA had already launched 203 anti-illegal drug operations that resulted in the arrest of 230 drug suspects, yielding a total of 485.17 grams of “shabu” valued at Php3,462,133.00.
“I laud our anti-drug enforcement operatives for another successful law enforcement operation. May this accomplishment serve as a stern warning for those who are still involved in illegal drug trade for will not stop until we end the illegal drugs problem in our region”, PBGen Hernia said. – RPIO MIMAROPA
